CARLOS A. GUERRA

Modelling Global Ecosystems

I joined the German Center for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig in 2016, and over the last few years, my work has focussed on process-based ecosystem models with special attention to the spatially and temporally explicit calculation of ecosystem functions and services (particularly regulating services). Across my research interests, in recent years I have participated in several Global (e.g. IPBES, GEO BON) and European (e.g. MAES) initiatives and projects.

Although most of my research was at the local and sub-regional levels, with a focus on the different steps of the lifecycle of ecosystem regulating services, since my arrival to Leipzig it has evolved to a more extended global view of ecosystems. This allowed me to extend the scope (thematic and geographic) of my collaborations and to better position my research to make a positive difference in the world.
